Glacier National Park is open year round, but due to it's northern mountainous location, most people visit the park in the spring and summer. Park services open in late May and continue through September. During other months, limited service is available inside the park, and all services are available outside the park in local communities. You can visit without the crowds in the off season months. The peak visitor season is in June through September.
Ranger Programs
Ranger Led Activities begin in late spring and continue throughout the summer. Rangers conduct naturalist activities at Apgar, Goat Haunt, Logan Pass, Many Glacier, Saint Mary and Two Medicine.
Blackfeet, Salish, and Kootenai tribal members present special campfire talks on native life and culture at locations throughout the park. The St. Mary Visitor Center hosts weekly native dance troupes during July and August.
Contact the visitor centers for a list of Ranger Led Activities and a "Nature with at Naturalist" publication. Activities include boat tours, day hikes, evening slide programs, guided hikes, and Junior Ranger programs.

International Peace Park Activities
Hike from Canada to the U.S. and cruise back on the waters of the deepest lake in the Canadian Rockies. The International Peace Park Hike is a free guided trip held on Saturdays from the end of Jun to the end of Aug. Participants meet at the Berth Trailhead in Waterton Lakes National Park at 10:00 am. Bring a lunch, water, raingear, jacket, hat and wear good footwear for walking. Dogs are not permitted. The trail is not difficult, but you will be hiking most of the day (8.5 mi / 14 km). You will arrive back to Waterton Park about 6:00 pm. Hikers need to purchase one-way boat cruise ticket for the return trip. Adults - $10.00, Youth (13 - 17) - $7.00, Children (4 - 12) - $5.00 (Canadian).
Since 1932, Rotary's Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park Association has held annual assemblies to honor the creation of the Peace Park. Contact the park for current dates and times.
