A report in today's NY Times says that the grizzly population that lives in the Yellowstone area has recovered and no longer needs protection under the Endangered Species Act. It also said four other grizzly populations in the United States are still at risk and will continue to be listed as threatened species (but did not indicate which populations).
Taking the bears off the endangered list means that they can be legally hunted, among other things, off of national park land.
